With one year in advance, Nintendo has announced the interruption of eShop service from the Wiiu and the 3DS range consoles. The builder will close the shop on these media at the end of March of next year and plans to put an end to different related services before this deadline.
"There is part of the natural life cycle of any product range, which becomes less used by consumers over time." Justifies Nintendo in the Frequently Asked Questions accompanying its communiqué announcing the end of the eShop on Wiiu and 3DS, less than a year after acting in Japan. If the service interruption is scheduled for the end of March 2023, the manufacturer announces that it will be impossible to credit his ESHOP account from May 23, 2022, while the prepaid cards will be unusable as of August 29, of the same year. The cards still on sale in stores will however be marketed until stocks are exhausted and can be used to credit its Switch portfolio. The download codes will always be valid until the last moment. Users who have linked their Nintendo Network ID account to the portfolio of their Nintendo on SWITCH account will also be able to use the balance of the latter on the platform of their choice until the end of March 2023.
However, Nintendo is reassuring by announcing at the same time as it will always be possible to download all the purchases made on Wiiu and 3DS - Games and DLC - and this even beyond the date of end of service. Software updates will also be maintained, just like the online game. What society does not evoke on the other hand, it is the pure and simple disappearance of a number of exclusive games at the Wiiu and the 3DS and only marketed by dematerialized. And they are numerous, especially in the 3DS range.
Finally, the question of the many titles appeared on the virtual consoles of the two platforms. To this question, Nintendo responds in any relaxation: "In the framework of our subscriptions to the Nintendo Switch Online, more than 130 classic games are currently available in expanding libraries for various old consoles. Games are often improved with new features such as online game. We think it's an effective way to make classic content easily accessible to a wide range of players. In these libraries, new players and long-standing players can not only find games that they remember or have heard about, but also other fun games that they may not have thought of looking for other. We currently have no plan to offer classical content in another way._ "130 games accessible at the moment, it is obviously very far from the catalogs of the virtual consoles on the two platforms concerned. It is therefore still time to market before the small craftsman gets his stall.
