In the course of the sexism scandal around Activision Blizzard a new turn is different. According to a blog post from Blizzard, the President of Blizzard, J. All Brack leaves the company. Brack was a major man before the MMORPGworld of Warcraft.
Where does the information come from? The Gaming Journalist Jason Schreier tweeted the novelty at 14:15 in German.
He writes: "Blizzard President J. Allen broke leaves the company. Activision Blizzard has not informed the employees. Jen Oneal and Mike Ybara will take over as "Co-Leader of Blizzard" "
How safe is that? That's very safe. Jason Schreier is considered a well-connected industrial insider. He had also released internal e-mails, which circulated at Blizzard. It is therefore certain that he has sources with Activision Blizzard.
If such a message is transmitted to the whole rod of Blizzard, it is plausible that anyone immediately forwards this information to Schreier. Blizzard is obviously licking like a holey watering can.
Blizzard confirms rumor immediately
Update: The message is now official. In a blog post, Blizzard announces that J. all Brack resigns. (Via Blizzard).
It is replaced by a new mixed double peak. As a job description, "Co-Leader" is called:
Jen Oneal came to Blizzard only in January 2021. Until then, it led the Activision Studio Vicarious Visions. That went up in Blizzard to work there at Diablo 2 Resurrected. So far, BLIZZARD, she supported the brand "Diablo" and "Overwatch" as executive Vice President of Development.
Mike Ybarra has been with Blizzard since 2019, he came from Xbox and is responsible for the technology and the Battle.net at Blizzard. He was so far "Executive Vice President and General Manager of Platform on Technology".
In a statement, Blizzard makes it clear:
The focus of both executives is to make Blizzard for "safest, and friendliest workplace for women and people of every sex, every ethnicity, sexual orientation or background".
It becomes clear: this change in the leadership is clearly in the sign of the sexism scandal, which employs Blizzard for days.
That's J. Allen Brack: J. All Brack took over the direction of Blizzard in 2018, as president of the company. Before, Brack was an important man at WOW. He came from him of the legendary sentences: "You think that you want it, but you do not want it," with which he concluded a question of a "WoW Classic". This made him a part of the WOW community for years to the hate figure.
Before him, one of the founders of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime, had been a "CEO" of the company for years. The fact that Brack was only allowed to continue as a "president" watching observers as a power loss of Blizzard to Activision.
Video of the Blizzcon brought Brack in distress
What last happened? Blizzard has been in a violent continuous fire of criticism for just over a week. A Californian authority had filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard.
J. Allen Brack had positioned himself in an internal statement as an opponent of this Macho culture at Blizzard. But a video of a blizzcon many years ago became fatal. That threw a bad light on Brack:
A 10 year old video could be fatal to the Blizzard boss
New leadership should obviously signal departure
That's behind: The new man / wife leadership duo can now be seen as a sign that Blizzard wants to take a new beginning. Ybarra has been with Blizzard for 2 years, ONEAL for only half a year.
The "Old Guard" at Blizzard seems to be biased by the last weeks. So many veterans from the ancient times are no longer blizzard anyway, there has been an exodus to executives in recent years.
